Department Season

The Madwoman of Chaillot
by Jean Giraudoux, adapted by Maurice Valency
October 26-27 and November 2-3 at 8:00 p.m., and November 4 at 2:00 p.m.

Set across from the Eiffel Tower, This visionary play reveals a heightened world of reality where truth and honor are pitted against avarice and greed. The play takes a surreal look at exploitation in Paris as an eccentric woman and her eclectic band of friends battle corruption with startling results. Offered in support of the OWU Sagan National Colloquium. Directed by Elane Denny on the Main Stage.

Stop Kiss
by Diana Son
February 8-9 and 15-16 at 8:00 p.m., and February 17 at 2:00 p.m.

This alternately funny, sweet, moving and unsettling play follows the touching friendship between two women, from their first meeting through the aftermath of a savage hate crime. This very contemporary play premiered at the NY Shakespeare Festival in 1998 and is intended for adult audiences. Directed by Edward Kahn in the Studio Theatre.

A Theatre and Dance Duet!

Our spring production joins the forces of theatre and dance to present two performing arts events in one:

Orchesis 2008
Talented students put together our annual homage to the world of contemporary dance. This year’s production focuses on the sublime music of Johann Sebastian Bach with students creating dynamic tributes to the famous composer. Lively, energetic, thought-provoking, and always entertaining! Artistic Direction by Tim Veach.

and

The Photographer
by Phillip Glass and Robert Malasch

A multi-media theatre/dance extravaganza! Part play, part multi-media concert, part dance work. Three short movements tell the story and evoke the work of pioneering photographer Eadweard Muybridge, whose work contributed to the creation of motion pictures. This legendary work opened the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Next Wave Festival and here receives an Ohio premiere. Directed & designed by D. Glen Vanderbilt Jr. and choreographed by Katie Teuchtler.

Both events perform together on April 11-12 at 8:00 p.m. and April 13 at 2:00 p.m. on the Main Stage.
